Wernicke's Aphasia
Somehow today i remembered something which was covered only briefly but definitely included on the final test for my Linguistics 390 course: Wernicke's Aphasia.
This is a condition caused by damage to the Wernicke's Area of the cerebral cortex. Patients who suffer from this condition are able to speak fluently but will insert incorrect or nonexistent words into their sentences. The inclusion of these words varies from a few words here and there all the way to most of the sentence.
It's both sad and fascinating to hear people with this condition. To think that our wires can get crossed so simply and all of our language can turn into something nobody can understand.
Patients who recover from Wernicke’s aphasia report that, while aphasic, they found the speech of others to be unintelligible and, despite being cognizant of that fact that they were speaking, they could neither stop themselves nor understand their own words.

We had to design some kind of collage on the outside of a wine barrel in an art class. It was a
A long long long part of the dream was just designing the thing, it was pretty dull. But then we finished and were setting them up in the order we wanted them to be displayed. At first it was nice and calm and everyone behaved. But then people started moving each other’s work.
This is when I stood up in front of the class and said
“listen everyone! We need to put them all back in their original positions. If you want to move one, you need to ask the owner. If we start running around moving each other’s pieces we’re going to have a lot of broken (I paused, not sure what to call the things) a lot of broken… arts!
Suddenly I realized “BROKEN ARTS!” sounds a lot like “BROKEN HEARTS” and I couldn’t stop laughing but nobody thought it was funny.
I started singing “♫please forgive my broken art♫” still nobody laughed.
I changed my approach and said “I’m going to start a band it’s going to be called ‘The Broken Arts Club’” still nothing. I woke up

Public Service Announcement *A Dream
Last night I had a dream about a public service announcement.
It was a television commercial where there were short clips of different people saying things like:
"What's it to me?"
"It doesn't affect my life"
"It's not my business"
at the end the screen went black and in simple white letters it said
"If your wife is a hit-woman it IS your business and it WILL affect your life. Don't just ignore the situation."
That was the end.
